About the Deanship
The Deanship of Scientific Research of Northern Border University was established in 1428 AH, aiming to develop scientific research in all fields of knowledge to serve the community in the Northern Border Province.
The Deanship was established according to the Regulations of Scientific Research for Saudi Universities issued by the Council of Higher Education’s Decision No. (1419/10/2) dated 1419/6/23 AH. By article VI, Paragraph (B), of the Council of Higher Education's decision to confer authority to the Council of the Deanship of Scientific Research by proposing regulations, rules, and procedures governing scientific research at the university.
Scientific Research and Innovation at Northern Border University:
The Deanship of Scientific Research strives through its scientific research support programs to disseminate research culture and harness the potential of research at the University to increase its competitiveness in strategic fields within Saudi, Gulf, Arab and international universities and to spread awareness and development.
Scientific research is a fundamental pillar of Vision 2030. Consequently, the University is keen to support it by meeting the needs of researchers, developing their abilities, and encouraging them through regulations and instructions. In the light of annual budgets. Since its establishment, the University, represented by the Deanship of Scientific Research, has taken care of the policies, mechanisms, and frameworks governing research and its services. The Deanship is committed to The Unified Higher Education Regulations of Scientific Research for Saudi universities issued by Council of Higher Education Decision No. (1419/10/2 A.H.) in its 10th meeting, held on 1419/2/6 A.H, bearing in mind achieving the objectives for which the Deanship was established, such as linking scientific research to the University's objectives, development plans, and national trends by devoting a distinct goal to scientific research in the University's 2020-2025 strategic plan.
The Deanship is also concerned with the dimension of duplication in scientific research and the repetition of previous studies. It aspires to develop a generation of distinguished researchers and train and support them with a funding program for studies and research to carry out original and innovative high-level research that enriches specialized knowledge and serves the community.
The Deanship is interested in following up the mechanisms for engaging postgraduate students, teaching assistants, lecturers, and research assistants from technicians and university stsstudentsplementingf scientific research, providing all means to benefit from it and publishing it in local and international authorized publishing outlets.
The Deanship of Scientific Research encourages and motivates researchers through excellence awards adapted to academic promotion policies, providing an ambitious strategic research plan with local and national developmental priorities that takes into account university and region conditions and needs, meets the Strategic Plan’s objectives and initiatives, and is formulated by leading researchers and institutional and educational leaders in and out of the university.
Regarding research output, the University's scientific publications are added to databases such as Web of Science and SCOPUS. They also get published in university scientific journals and conferences. Scientific publishing has seen a clear and steady improvement; the University's scientific output has doubled from five years ago. The university is keen on authenticity and scientific sobriety, committed to quality controls in the selection of certified scientific journals, and adhering to the ethics of scientific research, protection, preservation, and marketing of researchers' intellectual property rights through fair and equal opportunities for all in the university’s various branches. It provides effective electronic information sources and free programs for all researchers to ensure access to scientific, health, engineering, and humanitarian fields. It also supports and encourages local and global research and community partnerships out of the Deanship’s belief in the importance of providing an enabling research environment for all beneficiaries of its services.
